Ms. Johnson and Ms. White, who are sisters, are both members of the Executive
Board. Ms. White is its recording secretary. Ms. Johnson is President
of the United Electrical Workers’ Union Local 299.

William Carey looks on as long time member Irmgard Wessel speaks in support
of the Association and its archives project. The records of Ms. Wessel’s
former union, AFSCME Local 1939, are held by the Association Archives
at 267 Chapel Street.

machine found in his garage, which he then presented to the GNHLHA archivist,
Joan Cavanagh, to add to the Typographical Union Local 47 collection.

| Patricia Nuelsen,
long time fund raising director for the New Haven-Leon Cities Project,
comes to the microphone to publicly join the GNHLHA with a generous contribution.
She spoke of her own deep working class roots in New Haven and her support
of the Association’s goal of “documenting the undocumented.”
| GNHLHA archivist
Joan Cavanagh discusses the archives and explains the web based survey
research guide. The guide now contains
an overview of 23 collections. The goal is to conduct at least 30 more
surveys, and to add information to the guide as they are completed.

| Exhibit: “Some
Collections Held at the Greater New Haven Labor History Association Archives.”
This is a traveling exhibit which includes artifacts from the Amalgamated
Clothing Workers Local Union 125 & International Ladies Garment Workers’
Union Local 150; Typographical Union No. 47; the New Haven Federation
of Teachers Local 933; and AFSCME Local 1939. As the inventories of local
unions’ records are conducted, the exhibit will expand.
